Responsible & Sustainable Destination Management
Sustainable tourism is defined as ‘tourism that is responsive to the needs of visitors, industry, the environment and the communities that host them, while taking full account of current and future economic, social and environmental impacts’ (Making Tourism More Sustainable – A Guide for Policy Makers, UNEP and UNWTO, 2005, p.11-12).
We will follow suit and aim to contribute to local communities and promote sustainable and responsible tourism regions that are aligned with the norms and consensus of the international community.

Matsushima Bay has been a member of The Most Beautiful Bays in the World since 2013.
Higashimatsushima City was selected as one of the Green Destinations Top 100 Stories in 2022.
Oku-Matsushima was named as one of the UN Tourism Best Tourism Villages in 2023.
